The Dance Floor

There’s a place for us…on the dance floor! This scintillating night lifts up the dance floor as an inimitable space of queer expression, community, and liberation. With dazzling orchestral color, Florence Price brings to life the dance traditions of her home in the American South. Bassist and composer Kebra-Seyoun Charles, known for their “buoyancy, verve, and hummable grooves” (I Care If You Listen), performs their own bass concerto Nightlife, steeped in jazz, gospel, and Baroque dance. QUO pulsates with rhythms of love and conflict in the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s magnum opus.
