Soloists from Queer Urban Orchestra kick off QUOfest 2026 with an electrifying evening of works by queer composers past and present. A brass quintet brings unstoppable energy to works by Leonard Bernstein, Jennifer Higdon, and Michael Tilson Thomas; a dectet of winds and strings animate propulsive music by Britten; and both groups play charming works by Francis Poulenc. The program also features an excerpt from Kebra-Seyoun Charles’ new chamber ballet Enby, which explores a Black non-binary musician’s life in New York, transiting love and loss, with a party at the end.
